Meet Our Coaches: Rachel Moody

Meet Our Coaches: Rachel Moody

Every week we are spotlighting one of our wonderful Wolfpack coaches so we can all get to know them a little bit better. Next up is Coach Rachel! She’s our beloved sprints coach and the most amazing and loudest cheerleader we could ever ask for.

About Rachel …
Rachel, aka RAD Moody was born and raised in Salt Lake County. She played volleyball and basketball in high school and didn’t start running races until she was 27 years old. She absolutely fell head over heels in love with running and the running community. Rachel has completed over 70 full marathons (3 Boston marathons!), a bunch of 50Ks (20-30), four 50-mile races, one 100-mile race and now she just trains for life. Her ideal day would be to head out and explore trails she’s never been on with her dog Daisy Mae. Then she’d head home hours later, dirty, sore, a little scraped up, and ready for a nap and a big burger!

Q&A with Rachel …
What’s your favorite place to run?
Herriman Hills
What’s your favorite running shoe?
Mizuno Inspire
What’s your favorite post-run snack?
Dr. Pepper or Coke
What’s your favorite drill?
Cross-overs (frankensteins), my tight hamstrings LOVE when I give them a little love.
What’s your favorite thing about coaching?
To watch each child learn that they have so much more inside of them than they ever dreamed!
What’s your favorite memory from track & field?
Taking 2nd in district the first and only time I attempted high jump!
Why do you coach track and field?
It is the purest form of joy to watch these kids give their all and exceed their expectations. There’s something for everyone to be great at.
What’s your most embarrassing moment from a race?
When I was PACING a marathon in humidity and I was used to dry climates, so I kept drinking and drinking to help my body cool down. Well, puking in the gutter at mile 26 of the marathon taught me that drinking isn’t the best way to combat heat and humidity! But, I still finished on my pace time!
What do you love about Wolfpack?
The people. The kids, the parents, the coaches, everywhere you turn there are amazing people!

We love you Coach Rachel and can’t wait to get back on the track with you!
