Wolfpack
Competition Team

The Wolfpack Comp Team is for hardworking athletes who seek a more structured, focused, and competitive experience.

Do your kids love track & field or trail running? Do they ask to register for local 5k races and love the competitive environment? Do they understand the basics but want to learn more? Are they looking for a little extra knowledge and training before starting high school?

Spring Track & Field

Trainings are 3x per week, usually at Corner Canyon High School. We teach athletes multiple aspects of track & field and encourage an atmosphere of "try everything" at the beginning of the season. They learn about cross training, agility, strength training, running form, and more through a comprehensive program that encourages team building while also focusing on individual improvement.

Season:
April - June or July

Events:
sprints, mid distance, long distance, hurdles, relays, javelin, shot put, long jump, high jump, and multi-events. Some events are limited to specific USATF age divisions.

Fall Cross Country

Trainings are 3x per week in different locations in Draper and Sandy; usually at parks or local trails. Our comprehensive cross country program has been curated by former professional runners to help youth athletes slowly build up to their racing distances. It enables them peak at specific times throughout the season and foster a love for running.

We are proud to have multiple National Champions and All-American runners among our alumni.

Season:
August - December

Distances:
2k, 3k or 4k, depending on USATF age divisions or specific meets.

The competition team is USATF certified, and athletes on this team are required to have a USATF membership.

Comp Team Info:

ALL COMP TEAM ATHLETES MUST HAVE A USATF MEMBERSHIP TO BE ON THE TEAM!

What does that mean? Wolfpack is affiliated through USA Track & Field and we compete in USATF events, so it’s required that our athletes be USATF members.

Part of this membership includes athlete age verification. This process can take a couple of days to complete, so it’s imperative that membership and age verification be completed BEFORE your athlete can compete in any meets; this includes track & field AND cross country.

Memberships are good for 1 calendar year and expire on December 31st, so if you registered your athlete for 2024 track, they will be good for 2024 cross country. Get your athlete’s membership here!

TRACK & FIELD: Practices begin mid-April (usually after Spring Break) and will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5–6:30pm depending on location. Locations and changes to the training schedule will be on TeamSnap.

If you are an experienced coach or runner and you’re interested in assisting and/or coaching within our comp program, please reach out to Rachel Martinez: rachel@wolfpackrunning.org

Practice cancellations are extremely rare and are decided based on condition/safety of the practice location. Rain or snow does not mean practice will be cancelled. Coaches will reach out to you if practice will be cancelled/rescheduled.

There is a $20 bookkeeping fee on all refunds. No refunds will be given after the first week of practice.
