2022 Wolfpack XC Series Meet #1

This week we hosted the first in our Wolfpack XC Series with a meet at Wardle Fields in Bluffdale. The afternoon was blessed with fantastic running weather and clear skies. You can view the official results here.

Our elementary program races went first with ten teams competing in three distances; 1k, 2k, and 3k. This was a very first cross country race for many of our elementary athletes. They learned how to follow the course and how to handle a couple of little hills. Having a downhill slope at the finish always helps.

We had awesome, custom medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each division. Then we had ribbons for 4th, 5th, and 6th place.

On top of the individual awards, we implemented a Top Team award for each of our meets. Since competition races have top team awards, why not our Elementary Program too? We figured out a way for teams to score points with finishes in 1st through 10th place. This meet’s winning team was Sunrise Elementary. They got these cool trophies to take home.

Hopefully these awards can help our younger and newer-to-cross-country runners that it’s still a team sport too.

After the elementary program was finished with their races, it was time for our competition team to take to the field for their 3k race. We only had a handful of runners from other teams. Hopefully we can get more athletes out for our races in the future.

Our comp team did an awesome job and really showed off their talent.

Thanks so much to our comp team coaches and parents for helping out with the elementary races when they could and for supporting our amazing athletes.

On to the next meet!
