This weekend brought us beautiful weather and the 2023 USATF Jr Olympic State XC Championship, aka, the Utah State Meet. This year it was held at the Cottonwood Complex in Millcreek. It was a wonderfully hilly course; a true cross country course.
The top 15 individual athletes in each age division qualified for Nationals. In addition, the top 2 teams also qualified, if you also ran with a team (minimum of 5, maximum of 8 runners). We will have a group of athletes heading to Nationals in Kentucky in early December where they will compete against the top runners in the nation.
The event got started with an open 5k race for athletes ages about 15-18. Cole Jameson, a former Wolfpack athlete took home gold from that race. The next race was an Open 1k race for kids ages 6 and under. We had a couple of our athletes’ younger siblings run this fun race.
