Run with the Wolves XC Meet #1

This week the first of our two Wolfpack-hosted cross country meets took place. We ran at Wardle Fields Regional Park in Bluffdale. It’s one of our favorite local parks to host meets. This year we opened up all of our cross country races to anyone who wanted to race. You didn’t have to be on an existing team and this included the Elementary Program races. We encouraged our athletes to invite their siblings, their friends and neighbors, and even their teams from other sports. The more athletes we have running, the more fun it is for everyone!

Elementary Races

We started the afternoon with our Elementary Program races. The youngest athletes, Pups, went first with a 1k race. Up next was a 2k race for Gamma and then two 3k races each for boys and girls in the Beta and Epsilon age divisions.

We had awards in our Elementary Races for 1st through 10th place and it was wonderful to see the pride on the faces of the kids who placed.

One of our comp team athletes, Teagan H., ran as the rabbit for all of our Elementary Races. Thank you, Teagan!! You made it look like fun to be chased by so many kids!

Comp/Open 3k Race

At the end of the afternoon we started our 3k Comp/Open race. Our comp team was joined by athletes from Roadrunners, Davis Race Cats, SLC OPAC, Rising Sun Running Club along with two separate comp soccer teams from Utah Soccer Alliance. We also had plenty of unaffiliated runners join the race.

It turned out to be an awesome evening.

Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who helped set up our courses, run our merch tent, organize registration and awards, and be the BEST cheerleaders for our young athletes.

Also thanks to our amazing coaches for their encouragement and support in getting our kids outside and running.

See everyone next week!
