2022 USATF Jr Olympic XC National Championship

40 of our Wolfpack athletes and their families made the trek to College Station, Texas last weekend to compete in the USATF Jr Olympic XC National Championship. The races were at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course at Texas A&M University. Click here for official results.

We were welcomed with warm temps and quite a bit of humidity! On Friday morning, most of our athletes had arrived already. We did a light jog of the course so all of our runners could see what was ahead of them. It was a really beautiful course, mostly flat and almost all short grass; no steep hills too.

Saturday morning greeted us with slightly cooler temps and long waits to board the busses to the race course.

<8 Girls ran a 2k. We only had one runner, Anneliese M. She crushed the course and placed 48th out of over 180 runners.

<8 Boys also ran a 2k. All four of our runners did a great job passing as many competitors as they could with Cooper B placing 96th. There were just over 200 runners in their race!

9-10 Girls hit the course next with a 3k run. Our team placed 7th overall with three of our athletes placing in the top 100. Emmy F. placed 20th, Bethany M. placed 61st, and Mia L. placed 79th. There were just over 280 runners in their race.

9-10 Boys teams placed 4th overall with three of our runners in the top 100. Matthew C. placed 21st, Juan M. placed 44th, and Revin B. placed 79th in a race with just over 300 runners.

11-12 Girls took to the course for a 3k race. Teagan H. took 7th place and Lulu M. placed 54th in a race with 350 competitors.

11-12 Boys were up next where we didn’t have enough runners to field a team, but our boys did an awesome job with just over 380 runners.

13-14 Girls dominated their 4k race and brought home a National Championship title!! Adria F. came in 2nd place, Tatum F. placed 6th, Maya B. in 13th place, Tyana L. placed 48th, Lily J, came in 57th place, Bridget S. placed 84th, and Lydia finished in 62nd place. There were over 330 runners.

Our 13-14 Boys finished out our day by placing 24th as a team with Kenny B. placing 33rd. This race was the largest for our team with over 400 competitors.

We were lucky to have a couple of parents able to take photos. As it happens at meets with SO MANY runners, we weren’t able to get photos of all of our athletes. Many thanks to Alex W. and her friend Albert, who is local to the Houston area, for all of these great photos.

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing coaches who busted their butts to make sure our athletes were ready for their races, taking turns warming everyone up, and making sure we all cheered each other on. Another massive THANK YOU to our awesome parents. You made sure our athletes and coaches were hydrated, fed, and ready to race in some of their biggest races ever.
