This past Saturday our Wolfpack comp team competed in a second developmental track meet at Davis High School; hosted by Davis Race Cats. DANG, it was hot! We were ready for it though. We stressed to our athletes the importance of hydrating in the days leading up to the meet. Our amazing parents brought LOTS of extra shade, water-misting fans, and coolers full of water and sports drinks.
We were all there to take care of each other.
Since the Utah State Championship Meet is only a week away, Coach Michele chose not to have any of our athletes compete in the 3000m run or the 4x400m relay. Our athletes usually place in the top three in the 3000m, so we weren’t sure we’d have enough points to win this meet.
We did anyway… and by a lot!
We had a few club records broken this weekend too. Kayla broke the club record on the 800m run, and Talon and Eli both broke records on the 80m hurdles.
Olivia and Colin broke club records on the high jump. Colin high jumped 6’2″!!! It was so amazing to watch him jump higher and higher.
Major congrats to Kenny for running a 4:39 on his 1500m run. That screaming fast time qualified him for the Nike Outdoor Championship at the famous Hayward Field at the University of Oregon. Way to go Kenny!
Overall our Wolfpack saw lots of medals, lots of PRs, and we are so proud of how well they all did and how well they all fared in the 90°+ heat. It was such a hot day and they persevered!
Now, on to the State Championships!
