Meet Our Coaches: Teren Jameson

Meet Our Coaches: Teren Jameson

Every week we’re going to spotlight one of our amazing Wolfpack coaches so we can all get to know them a little bit better. Next up is Coach Teren from our competition team.

About Teren
Teren was a cross country star in college at the University of Utah, while his wife, Emily, was a three-time All-American at BYU. He and Emily have raced all over the world, and he’s one of the most accomplished (and kindest) runners you’ll ever meet.

Q&A with Teren
What’s your favorite place to run?
Trails
What’s your favorite post-run snack?
Hamburger
What are your favorite running shoes?
New Balance 860
What’s your favorite thing about coaching?
Seeing athletes working hard and accomplishing their goals.
What’s your favorite memory from your time doing track and field?
There are too many memories! I loved traveling to compete against the best runners in the world and meeting runners who inspired me. In the 10k Road Championship, I finished 2nd to Bob Kennedy, who’s a two-time Olympic athlete. When I finished, he was the first to congratulate me. He was one of the U.S. runners who inspired me to run, and I didn’t feel bad about getting outkicked by someone who could run a sub-13-minute 5k.
Why do you coach track and field?
I competed in track and field as a youth, high school, college, and professionally in events all over the world. I benefited from great coaches who made running fun, inspired me, and challenged me to be my best. My hope is to share my experience and joy of running with others can discover the joy that comes from challenging yourself and develop a love of running that can last your entire life.
What do you love about Wolfpack?
I love being part of a team where we are trying to help each other be our best and have lots of fun.
